The former Transition Chairman, Ohafia Local Government & the New Nigeria People's Party Arochukwu/Ohafia House of Representatives candidate in the last 2023 general elections, Chief Fred Eke Idika, Ekwueme Ohafia, has resigned his membership of the party. In a statement made available to journalists in Umuahia by his media office, Chief Idika said that his resignation was after due consultations with his constituents & thanked the party for providing him the platform to contest the last election.  The former Transition Chairman commended his supporters for their steadfastness & charged them to remain calm & wait on the next line of action. The resignation letter was addressed to the Chairman, NNPP, Ebemoha ward & copied to the National Chairman of the Part. Chief Fred Idika is known to command wide followship in the local government.

 The Federal Government has identified Tukur Mamu, a publisher from Kaduna, along with 14 others, as individuals involved in financing terrorism within the country. Mamu has been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) since September 2022  Among the identified financiers are nine individuals and six Bureau De Change (BDC) operators and firms  FCT, Abuja — The Nigerian Sanctions Committee has complied with the Federal Government's orders and disclosed the names of 15 entities, including nine individuals and six Bureau De Change firms.  These entities are facing sanctions due to suspicions of involvement in financing terrorism.  1. Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja, on Tuesday, denied bail to the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.  The court, however, ordered accelerated hearing of the case involved in the embattled IPOB leader who is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony. Kanu , who was brought to the court on Tuesday, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his arrest in June 2021. Delivering ruling, Justice Nyako held that the court would only grant an accelerated hearing in the matter and ordered the prosecution to call its first witness.  Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has approved the appointment of Dr Eno Jerry Eze as the Chairman, Abia State Civil Service commission. In a release signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Kazie Uko and made public to the press, Dr. Eno will be taking over from retired Permanent Secretary Elizabeth Esochaghi who was appointed by the immediate past Administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu. This will be the first time the Chairman of Abia State Civil Service Commission will be appointed outside the forum of retired Permanent Secretaries and outside the Abia state civil service. Civil servants panic as Wike orders reshuffling of directors in FCT

  The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) says it has concluded plans for an immediate reshuffling of directors across Secretariats, Department and Agencies (SDAs). The move, which takes effect immediately, following the swearing in of the pioneer Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries of the FCTA, Chairman and members of the FCT Civil Service Commission, is expected to help enforce efficiency within the system. Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, who gave the revelation during the swearing in ceremony, advised the directors to accept their new postings in good faith, stating that there’s going to be reshuffling across all sectors of the FCTA. “Immediately after now, the Head of Service will send out the postings of Directors. I have said that there will be total reshuffling in all areas, and I’m going to implement it this afternoon,” he said.
