Presidential Installation: I Will Spend More Time to the Course of Humanity - Barr. Olugu
The newly installed president of Rotary Club of Umuahia, Government House Chief Barr. Olugu K. Ugba has expressed passion towards charitable activities of Rotary Club to the society.
Chief Ugba disclosed this on Saturday, 12th November 2022 during the installation of the 5th Rotary Club of Umuahia Government House President at Unique Life Hotel in Umuahia, Abia State.
In his address at the occasion, the newly installed president described Rotary as an organisation of ordinary people doing extraordinary things and expressed joy that the day finally came after much preparation, giving thanks to God.
He further described Rotary as a platform through which public spirited individuals come together to serve humanity, being the helper of the helpless, giving hope to the hopeless, meeting the needs of the needy and advancing the course of global peace.
He pledged his commitment to invest his time, energy, resources and talent to the service of Rotary Club of Umuahia Govt House, Rotary club International, and humanity in general.
While explaining previous accomplished projects, he stated that for the 2022/2023 Rotary year, Rotary Club of Umuahia Government House would embark on projects that include economic empowerment and community development, water, sanitation and hygiene, disease prevention and treatment, basic education and literacy, maternal and child health, protection of the earth, and conflict prevention and resolution.
Other spotlights of the event included award presentation, cutting of cake, special appearance by Ohafia war dance and induction of board of directors of Rotary Club of Umuahia Govt House.
The event attracted the presence of Abia State Head of Service Rtn. (Sir) Onyii Wamah, Hon. Commissioner of Public Utilities & Water Resources Chief Barr. (Rtn) Kingsley E. Imaga, Deputy Chairman Of Ohafia LGA Hon. Samuel U. Kalu, His worship Nnenna Kalu Anya, Principal Secretary, Office of Wife of the Governor Elder (Mrs) Love Ezema, Chief Medical Officer, Government House Dr. (Mrs) Ifeyinwa Uma, Clergymen, Captain of Industries and other top Government officials.
