Civil servants panic as Wike orders reshuffling of directors in FCT

 The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) says it has concluded plans for an immediate reshuffling of directors across Secretariats, Department and Agencies (SDAs).



The move, which takes effect immediately, following the swearing in of the pioneer Head of Service, Permanent Secretaries of the FCTA, Chairman and members of the FCT Civil Service Commission, is expected to help enforce efficiency within the system.

Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, who gave the revelation during the swearing in ceremony, advised the directors to accept their new postings in good faith, stating that there’s going to be reshuffling across all sectors of the FCTA.

“Immediately after now, the Head of Service will send out the postings of Directors. I have said that there will be total reshuffling in all areas, and I’m going to implement it this afternoon,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Minister has warned the newly appointed permanent secretaries to perform or be shown the way out.

The Minister who warned that the Administration would not tolerate any act of indolence, also advised the Permanent Secretaries against unnecessary delay of files or other antics that could slow the system.

He said: “If you perform below expectations there’s nothing like query, we have no time for that we will just send you packing as permanent secretary. So I don’t want to hear any complaints now that you will be handling Secretariats you have your secretaries as your political heads. I don’t want to hear that files are unduly delayed.”

To the newly appointed Coordinators, the Minister charged them to do their best as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Administration is set to take development to the satellite towns, just as government is poised at improving infrastructure in the city centre.

Speaking specifically to the Coordinators in charge of the Abuja Metropolitan Management Council, Felix Amaechi Obuah, the Minister said its going to be a herculean task, “because the president resides in the city, there will be no excuses why the street lights won’t work, why sanitation and waste management would not be properly handled.”

While commending the President for ensuring that the FCT Civil Service Commission (Establishment) Act, 2018, is implemented, Wike charged the appointees to be committed and loyal, adding that they owed it to President Bola Tinubu, to make sure that Abuja works.

“You have been fighting for this, you didn’t know this was ever going to be possible. So how do you show gratitude to that person who did all to ensure you achieve this? You owe Mr President loyalty and commitment to show your appreciation. You owe Mr. President to ensure that Abuja works,” he said.
